Memory Pairs: rules and examples

Open Memory Pairs, check the instructions and begin a round. Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move.

Give this approach a try

Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal. Keep the objective visible.

The purpose of your moves

Match all eight pairs. Your result is the number of two-card turns used. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Review the board or playing area as it changes.

How to proceed

  1. Turn over any face-down card.
  2. Choose a second card. Equal symbols stay visible.
  3. Unequal cards turn back after a short pause.
  4. Continue until every pair is visible.

Your inputs

Use the on-screen controls with a mouse or touch. Use the control method described here for this activity. Return to the rules if the result is unexpected.

Follow the example

Turn over one card, remember its position, then choose a second. A matching pair stays found; a mismatch is hidden again. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Choose a deliberate next step.

Pay attention to this rule

You cannot turn a third card while a mismatched pair is still being shown. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
